Birthday dress and thank you hats
I've just finished knitting the ultimate little black dress to wear for my birthday on Wednesday. It was a 2 week marathon to complete but I'm very proud of it!
I've also been making hats for friends to say thank you for helping me out - from getting me extra clients for my business to doing a photoshoot for my website.

Knitting buddies
Today, after a long day of business development meetings (running a business is pretty challenging during a recession), I could finally unwind with my favourite pasttime, having a lovely chat with my knitting buddy Jenny.
It had started snowing and got really cold, and as we were watching the snowflakes from the comfort of the Royal Festival Hall, I couldn't stop thinking: I really need to wear this hat I am knitting!
So, in the first picture, there's me knitting away. In the second picture, me again wearing the hat. The second picture was taken an hour and a half later than the first.
Talk about being impatient: I finished knitting the beany on the train home and was sewing it furiously so I could make a grand exit from the station wearing my new creation. A couple of people were curiosly watching as I was intently sewing the hat together that I swiftly wore shortly afterwards.

Meryl Streep knits between scenes, as reported by BBC Breakfast news
This morning BBC Breakfast News interviewed Meryl Streep on her movie Doubts.
During the interview she mentioned that she was knitting between shoots - knitting and chatting had created a special camaraderie with a fellow cast member and a bit of jealousy or at least puzzlement in others. Check the original interview here.
This morning I was knitting on the train into work and I accidentally touched my fellow passenger's arm with my elbow (oops - I did not hurt her by the way!). We started talking about knitting. Soon another passenger joined in the conversation, and because the three of us are all knitting aficionados we talked about creating a local knitting club. How wonderful is that?

Snow: the perfect excuse to stay at home and do some knitting
Monday morning.
I was supposed to go to work but there's no train. The whole of London is covered with snow and all transport is simply... frozen.
I guess I'll do a bit of knitting then, as I have 2 birthday presents to knit...

Knitting Meditations: a newfound passion that re-emerged after 20 years!
Hi
I am Paola and I came up with the concept of Knitting Meditations after experiencing a sense of calm and relaxation from knitting small projects, more specifically mobile phone socks.
I haven't been knitting for about 20 years (I obviously started in my mother's womb!) as I have always been very restless and impatient. The knitting bug re-emerged with a vengeance on 1st January 2009, so I guess it was a sort of new year's resolution that I executed straight away.
So... during the last Christmas break I needed to keep my hands busy, instead of using them to stuff my face. Watching my mother's frantic knitting never inspired me before, but this time round something was switched on in my brain, a proper lightbulb moment to be honest. I had this idea of making mobile phone socks as belated Christmas presents to give to my friends in London after my usual Christmas break in Italy. Ah yes, I forgot, I was born in Trieste, North East of Italy, but moved to London 13 years ago.
I have become really passionate about creating unique pieces, not just mobile socks but all sorts of things from scarves to baby clothes.
The more I talk about knitting with friends, the more knitting buddies I find! I am looking forward to going to my first Stitch and B*tch event this year and compare notes with more like minded friends.
That's it for today!
Paola
